I am not sure if you are aware that the Congregation of the Sacred Hearts to which Damien belonged, sent their american students (and some Irish) for study to St Mary’s Winona in the 1960′s.
Yes, I attended St. Mary’s College in Winona shortly after the Sacred Heart fathers left their seminary there. I believe it is called Watters Hall now, in memory of the late Bishop Loras Watters of Winona. In fact, in my travels to Molokai in March, I was able to assist Fr. Clyde, the pastor of St. Damien parish topside Molokai, in Kaunakakai, and he and I were talking about his time at St. Mary’s College.
