I had the pleasure of meeting and briefly serving Mass with Fr. Paul Scalia a couple of years ago at the annual Courage Conference out in Emmitsburg, Maryland. As you may know, he is the son of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, and a priest of the Diocese of Arlington, Virginia.
A number of years ago, he penned an essay entitled “The Church Militant or the Church Belligerent?” It is a well-done piece and worth you taking a few minutes to reflect upon it.
There are so many in the Church today (dare I say especially those who some would call “conservative”) who I have experienced to be just as Fr. Scalia describes. Perhaps we all could benefit from Father’s thoughts. Click on the link to read. (Thanks to Deacon Greg Kandra for the heads up on this link.)
